Philadelphia Eagles Face Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 London Game
The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London for a pivotal Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After a string of mixed results, the Eagles aim to halt a downward spiral against a Jaguars squad coming in with a mostly healthy roster.
Recent Performance Sets Tone for Eagles
The Eagles, who secured earlier wins over the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans, enter this week under pressure following an embarrassing loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3 and a blown 10-point lead against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4. The Sunday contest represents a key opportunity for head coach Nick Sirianni to stabilize the team's season.
Injuries Plague Eagles, Lane Johnson Announces Retirement
A major storyline entering the game is the Eagles' extensive list of injuries. Adding to their troubles, longtime offensive lineman Lane Johnson announced his retirement unexpectedly this week. In contrast, the Jacksonville Jaguars are enjoying a rare week of good health. For details on each team's inactive players, fans can consult dedicated inactives reports.
Key Matchups and Running Game Concerns
One of the focal points for the Eagles is the challenge of establishing a running game in the absence of Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby. The Jaguars are known for their stout defensive front, making running lanes scarce. In addition, the Eagles must prepare for aggressive blitz schemes from opposing defenses, something they have struggled to consistently counter in recent outings.
Eagles Enter as Underdogs in London
The Eagles are 7.5-point underdogs going into this NFL London game, reflecting the uphill battle they face given current injuries and the Jaguars’ advantage in roster health.
