Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer Teases Deadly Dino Encounters

Universal Pictures just dropped the final trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth, right on the heels of its release of the script and concept art from the film. The upcoming Jurassic Park prequel is now only a few short months away from its intended release date of July 2, 2025, as it’s poised to make a splash in theaters over the Fourth of July weekend. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), the new entry in the Jurassic World sub-franchise is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise overall (starting with Jurassic Park back in 1993), and stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali.

The official synopsis for Jurassic World: Rebirth reads:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the Earth’s deteriorating ecosystem has become largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. As the few remaining dinosaurs in existence are forced to live within small pockets in the equatorial region that most closely resemble their natural Mesozoic habitats, there are now three largest dinosaurs in the sea, on land, and in the sky—each of which has genetic material that could potentially unlock a life-saving drug in development.

Covert operations specialist Zora Bennett, played by Scarlett Johansson, is assigned to lead a team to secure that code. She and the team, which includes Levi Becca (Mahershala Ali), join forces with a family of boaters to carry out a top-secret operation on an island where the three largest remaining dinosaurs in the world are kept. After an aquatic dinosaur attacks the family’s yacht, however, the two missions are put into crisis and danger as the survivors of the attack wash up on the shores of a remote island.

The Jurassic World: Rebirth cast is rounded out by Rupert Friend as pharmaceutical company representative Martin Krebs, Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Henry Loomis, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the father of the family that becomes stranded with Bennett’s mission crew. Delgado’s three children are played by Luna Blaise, David Iacano, and Audrina Miranda, and Bechir Sylvain is also on the crew. Ed Skrein and Philippine Velge also star in as-yet undisclosed roles.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Trailer

The first trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth dropped back in February, and the new one is built in large part from that original trailer. As a result, much of the footage in the new trailer is the same footage that appeared in the first, but re-cut to include more of the important moments and dialogue. The trailer opens with a warning-label-esque laboratory sequence in which a worker in a hazmat suit is hoisted into a cage with a T-Rex. He immediately finds himself in mortal peril, screaming in terror before it’s too late.

From there, the trailer sets its tone: high-octane, heart-racing, and quite literally “gnarly.” Viewers see both established favorites like raptors as well as new faces, including a veritable tsunami of mosasaurs, which one character ominously dubs “the mosasaur.” Jurassic World: Rebirth appears to be throwing down the gauntlet on Jurassic Park prequel references, because this trailer very clearly brings viewers back to the very first Jurassic Park film’s research island. As one character states in the trailer, the island in question “was a place where they brought in the worst of the worst.”

Jurassic World: Rebirth Trailer Features

Like much of the footage in the first trailer, the new trailer features all the action fanatics could ask for. There are numerous scenes of chase and narrow escape, including characters running for their lives through jungle foliage and spending hours hidden in a sunken shipwreck. Johansson, in particular, seems set to present a new, grittier take on the usual “kidnapped scientists trapped on a dinosaur island” formula.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is set to open in theaters on July 2, 2025.
